I have a lot more to say about these verses than I have room.  Paul begins with the words “be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.)   Then we are to put on the whole armor of God.  I emphasize the word “whole” because if we neglect one part the enemy will get us.  The foe is very intelligent even the word used here is wiles.  He gets us where we may not be wary.  Our foes are principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world.  What is mentioned is against spiritual wickedness in high places.  In verse 13 we are to take a stand.
Now we are to stand having the breastplate of righteousness to guard our chest.  Would an army need proper footwear?  The gospel of peace is on our feet.  Then we need a shield to ward off the enemies darts.  This shield is faith and is our helmet of salvation.  To be saved and know it is that helmet.  Now we need the offensive weapon which is the Word of God.  I have to know the Word before I can effectively use the sword.
