There is an ingredient here called love.  To miss that and go on with the work of the Lord is futile.  Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:22 in thy name I did many wonders.  There Jesus said,” I never knew you.”  The word “though” I would retranslate to “if” we can do some of these things without even having the love of Christ in our hearts.
Then we have ingredients of love in verses 4 – 7 in our behavior.  Verse 8 says love never fails.  When the New Testament was put together in the handy little book certain things ceased and passed away.
Paul now said, “We know in part and prophesy in part, but when that which is perfect has come that done in the past will pass away.  Some say that is the New Testament as it is, but I would rather say our eternal state of being.  Paul then says, “Then I will know as I am
known.”
Paul concludes, “Now abides faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is love.”
