These verses are after the feeding of the five thousand and it is ironic that they would take Jesus the incarnate Son of God Creator of the Universe by force and make Him king.  What kind of a king could this be who would be a king by force?  That would mean He would be a king for what He could do for them.
Jesus went to a mountain alone to have a conversation with God the Father.  Meanwhile the disciples enter a ship to go to Capernaum.  This is in Matthew 14:25.  Jesus tells them to get into a ship and go to the other side.  Also in Matthew, Peter walks to Jesus on the water.  I find it interesting that Jesus tells them to get into the boat as I am sure Jesus knew about the storm.  What I find in my own life is He knows about every storm that comes my way.  In my 81 years there were storms I thought I could not handle but in due time He was there.  It reminds me of I Corinthians 10:13. “There hath no temptation (testing) taken you but such as is common to man but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able, but will with the temptation make a way of  escape that ye may be able to bear it.”  This means when the storm comes we will have a way through.  It is the same Christ now seated at God’s right hand, ever living to make intercession for us.
