The statement of Jesus about tasting death is an interesting one.  I will give two thoughts.  Of course the first one is probably the choice of most and I share it with them. It is that the Mount of Transfiguration was a kind of brief example of the kingdom.  There was Jesus the King and Moses and Elijah, chief people from the Old Testament and then Peter, James and John of the New Testament era.
The second thought I offer is that Jesus tasted death for every man (Hebrews 2:9) however only those who truly believe. So I believe He tasted death for me.  Therefore if Jesus tasted death for me if I pass from this scene I will not be dead but absent from the body and present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)
I don’t push this on anyone.

Next Peter was so excited about this he wanted to build three tabernacles and just stay there.  The Father was not pleased with this and Moses and Elijah disappeared and the Father said to them, “This is my beloved Son. Hear Him.”  After this they came down from the mountain and some of the same problems existed.
