Zechariah 12:1-10

I find the phrase “in that day” used six times in Zechariah 12.  The thing to look for is what day this writer is talking about.  There are times the words “in that day” is used for a period of time and not just a day.  This is where Jerusalem and Israel are the most prominent city and nation in the world.  Certainly not right now.
I feel the most important phrase in this is found in verse 10, “They shall look upon me whom they have pierced and mourn.” Here this could be called a mystery, but it does not have to remain a mystery forever.  Let us turn to John 19:37 where it is written as partial fulfillment of this prophesy. “They shall look upon Him whom they have pierced.”  This is prophesied about Jerusalem and the nation in the future not those who did it there.  Then in Revelation 1:7 it says, “Behold He (Jesus) cometh with clouds and every eye shall see Him and they also which pierced Him.”  The final fulfillment is Revelation 19:11-16.
