2 Peter 1:5-9
When Peter here says, add to your faith, he doesn’t mean to get saved and put nothing to it. I know we are saved by grace alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone but I made something that faith plus nothing equals nothing. Think on that for awhile.
Now Peter has a list of ingredients that we add to our faith. This however does not gain us anything to get us into Heaven, but it probably will help us with rewards at the judgment seat of Christ. Brotherly kindness will also help us prevent fights in churches.
Now Peter says if these things are in you and about you, you will not be barren or unfruitful. We are saved to bear fruit and to reproduce. When is the last time you led someone to the Lord and taught him enough to lead someone else to the Lord. This was a principle of Dawson Thotman of the Navigators.
The last verse here speaks lack and a believer nearly blind. We don’t want that.
