Acts 4;1-12

Time doesn’t seem to change people down through the ages.  People are still grieved when the name of Jesus is preached outside the walls of the Church.  It may not be quite as bad here in this country of so called freedom.  However, in some countries the name of Jesus is hated as it is in this story.

The Apostles were put in a jail cell until they could figure out what should be done to them.  However at that time there were about 5,000 people saved.  These people were turned from eternal punishment to heaven.

Next they are asked by what power or by whose name the beggar was healed.  Peter filled with the Holy Spirit replied that is was by the name of Jesus that this man who was once an invalid was made whole.  Peter who had denied Christ by saying he never knew him, is now full of boldness and without fear.  Peter said that Jesus was the stone that the builders (Jews) had rejected.

Now we come to verse 12, it is loaded with so much truth and meaning.  “
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”  This is such a great truth and I love to stand on it.  According to Philippians 2:10, Jesus is the name greater than all names.  At His name every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father.  I stand on that too!
