Colossians 1:9-14
In these few verses there are points that I find important to write about. The first is that Paul spent a lot of time praying for the people of God. The things that Paul prayed about was that the Colossians would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will. This was with wisdom and spiritual understanding. Paul seeks that they would increase in the knowledge of God. To increase to me, means to get more. We will either increase or decrease. We will never remain the same.
When I see the words “according to” I can relate to because of the cause/effect process that God has personally worked through in my own life. With God’s power we can have patience, longsuffering with joyfulness. This is no need for a Christians not to have joy even in suffering.
We are partakers of inheritance of the saints in light. In this little blog, I could never explain all that this means to me, but it means I have riches coming beyond even my imagination. Perhaps Romans 8:16-17 may help you. We are joint heirs with Christ.
What does it mean to be delivered from the power of darkness? There is the power of darkness all around us. We don’t have to give in to it because we are delivered from its power. This means I don’t have to sin and act like the people of this world. According to I John 1:7 we can walk in the light as He is in the light. We are redeemed, bought with the precious blood of Christ.
