These verses start with putting away lying.  Could a church system be much better off if everyone always told the truth?  The reason seems to me because we are members one of another.  That is part of the body of Christ.
The next thought is about anger.  The term be angry and sin not.  My anger should be scripture and useful and so temporary that it is gone before the sun goes down.  It should not be held day after day.
Now to not give place to the devil means we don’t give him an inch in which he will use it in many ways.  You have heard the term, “give him an inch and he will take a mile.”
Did you notice the turnaround in verse 28?  Not only should the thief quit stealing but work and give generously to others in need.  Next our words should be for building up other fellow Christians and even the people of the world.
We can grieve the Holy Spirit by all of the above and the last two verses too.  That is having something seething in me that God’s Holy Spirit is uncomfortable with. He will never leave us as we are sealed until the day of redemption.  We might as well be comfortable with each other.  We next have a list of things to be put away.  That is bitterness, clamor, evil speaking and malice.  These do not add to a healthy spirit.
