Things I find interesting is that God said, “I have hardened Pharaoh’s heart.” People refuse the Bible because of words like this.  They may think of God as some ogre that has no heart.  Yet God says after, “that I may show these signs of Mine before him.”  There is a phrase in verse two, “That you (Pharaoh) may know that I am the LORD.” This quotation is prevalent many times throughout the Bible.  We can know the truth and the truth shall set us free.
There is another phrase we often in these few chapters use and it is, “Let My people go.” I want to emphasize the term, “My people”.  They were His people because of a covenant with Abraham and there was an outward sign of circumcision. In Genesis 1 they were to be in Egypt in affliction four hundred years and now the time was.  Pharaoh was to be pitied because he didn’t honor God’s timing.  This is for us too if we don’t pay attention to God’s timing and His ways.
Next locusts were said to have come and they did.  They filled the fields and the houses and ate up everything in sight.  Pharaoh said, “How long is this man going to be a snare to us, let them go that they may serve the LORD.” Is anything hindering us from serving Him?
