I won’t say much about the actual verses in two letters sent to Artaxerxes.
I am glad I am writing about his name and not speaking it.  By the time the letters were read the Jews were told to quit the work.  There was a deception there.  The enemies said they were building the city to rebel.  They were commanded by King Cyrus to rebuild the Temple.  However when people get certain news it is very easy to quit.  I am reminded of Winston Churchill during the heat of World War 2 when he said to England, “Don’t quit!”  Now it was hot and the stones of the temple all had to be marked because they all had a special place. Sort of like church today but we are living stones.  Sad that church people renege on their place and others don’t know what place they have.  It may be others don’t know anything about believers having a special place at all.  Later the prophets Haggai and Zechariah get them back to work. Trouble came but God fixed it.
