Genesis 37:18-36
The first thing I want to say is that envy is dangerous. It is not only dangerous to those who are occupied with it, but the one who is envied. In the case of Joseph being shown favoritism by his father Jacob, Joseph became the object of his brother’s envy. Also sharing his two dreams which came from God with his already envious brothers didn’t help the matter either. It only added fuel to the first which the envy had already started.Their envy of their brother Joseph took a dark path, to the point of desiring to kill him. We must be careful of these kinds of thoughts and nip them in the bud immediately. It doesn’t take much in the progression of things like these to end in violence.
