Genesis 9:1-19

In this chapter, Noah is blessed with his sons and their wives and told to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth.  This is the start of what we can call a new mankind.  In Romans 8:29 we find another new mankind.  It reads:  For whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son that He might be the firstborn of many brethren.

In verse six we find capitol punishment.  Our nation seems to have almost given up on this, and murder has become rampant with prisoners who are in the prisons for life.  Again we see the mention of the covenant God made with Noah.  God is a covenant keeping God.  Man is the breaker of covenants.  Next we have the rainbow reminding us every time we see it there will not be another worldwide flood to destroy mankind over the whole world.  This is the beginning of the so called new earth.  Shem, Ham and Japheth were to repopulate the earth.  If we read the rest of the Old Testament, we can see how this all plays out.

Now in Hebrews 2:5 we see a phrase called “The world to come.”  This is a reference to Revelation chapters 19 & 20.  This is when Jesus comes down from Heaven and rules for 1000 years.  This is the new earth such as has never been before.  This was spoken about by Isaiah in the Old Testament among other prophets.
