I John 5:9-15

Where do we find the witness and testimony of God about His son which is the greatest of all?  I suppose we could go first to the Old Testament, clear back to the book of Genesis where God said to Satan:  “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, between thy seed and her Seed.  Then travel forward to the New Testament where we find the angel Gabriel announcing the birth of Christ.  Next the Father at the baptism of Christ said:  “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”    Now considering just those few statements alone, we would be calling God a liar if we don’t trust Him and believe in His Son.  John continues on with the testimony.  This testimony that God has given eternal life and that life is in His Son is woven all through the New Testament.  Now what could be plainer than this?  He that has the Son has life and he that has not the Son has not life.  The next verse says that we may know that you have eternal life.  Then we also have confidence that God hears our prayers and we have the petitions we have asked of Him.  I like that word confidence.  God and I are one.  W shouldn’t fear coming to Him and not being heard.
