David asks one question that puts him in the limelight. It is, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the army of the living God?” (vs. 16) To me this is an interesting question.  Christians sing that we are in the Lord’s army. The Bible is the sword of the Spirit, yet who has guts enough to lift it up against the enemy.  We are listening to messages on contending for the faith and yet we have almost given this to one man in many cases.
Saul did give this to David after much coming and he came through and Goliath was dead.  He didn’t do it with a heavy armor but with a sling and stone.  The power of God was behind that stone.
I want to end this with one verse from the New Testament.  It is Ephesians 3:20.  “Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly above all that he asks or thinks.” Did you ever notice it is according to the power that works in us?  We cannot do it alone nor will God do it alone.
