Identify The Elect! – 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5
This passage refers to God’s people who are chosen for His purposes or the “elect”. Election is a term of rank or privilege and usually deals with God choosing the second over the first for His glory. The second Adam was Christ and He is referred to as God’s elect chosen over the first Adam. Through the second birth we are part of God’s elect – chosen for His purposes. Paul gives some of the identifying markers in these verses.
3. Prayer – “always”, “thanks” – prayer is a privilege of the elect
4. Practice – Work of faith – Activity was guided by faith, Labor of love – Activity was motivated by love, Patience of hope – Activity was continued in hope.
Are you one of the elect? Have you received the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior? You are then a chosen instrument to share the message of Christ inn this world. Do it in faith, love and hope!

2. Position – “in God”, “in Christ” – the elect are “in” through faith in the Lord Jesus
