Jeremiah 7:1-11

Does God sometimes ask us to do things that are sometimes unpleasant.  Now if the people are not in sync with God’s ways it may not be the most pleasant thing to stand in the gate of the temple and proclaim God’s word.  The chief thing Jeremiah was to say was “amend your ways”. This is something they would not like to hear.
Then there is another phrase, “Trust not in lying words.” This is something very relevant in our world today not only in our country but also in all the world.  How much trouble this has been to us.  Jesus said in John 8:32, “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” There is a certain freedom in the truth of God. All this is said at the Temple Gate which was the (supposed) spiritual capital of Israel.  Our spiritual capital is the true church of God today.  We must amend our ways.  There are two reasons.  The unsaved world is watching and God is watching too.  We may be the reason that some because of Christ will go to Heaven, others to Hell.
