Earlier in this chapter Jesus said, “My life is compared to a normal work day of 12 hours.”  He was nearing the end of His work day which was the cross.  Nothing could happen until that time.  How could Thomas know this when he said, “Let us go with Him that we may die with Him.”
I want to stop here and say that my sixty five years are my 12 hour days.  I don’t know when my 12 hours will come and my work will be finished.  It could end by my being caught up with other Christians at the coming of the Lord for His own, or I may see a casket and a grave.
Now Jesus gave Martha a profound statement, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me though he may die yet shall he live.” I am sure Martha did not know the truth of this at that time but we can know it now.  I do and I hope everyone who reads this does know it.
