John 6:15-21

This first verse of our lot of verses could be confusing to some.  Why not make Jesus the king?  Didn’t the wise men come asking, “Where is He who is born king of the Jews?” Do you realize that Jesus has never been King yet? There will be a day when they will look (as a nation) on Him whom they have pierced (Zechariah 12: 10) and will mourn.  Then Jesus will emerge as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Next we come to the disciples who got into a ship just before the storm.  Didn’t Jesus tell them to go across the sea?  I am surprised that Jesus being God, didn’t know the storm was coming.  Do you think Jesus might even have allowed the storm so He could calm it?  Another thing, does God calm all storms?  When the storm is for our benefit it might be allowed to go on.  Jonah’s experience was to be thrown into the sea, then the sailors  would see the sea become calm.  Here when they took Jesus into the ship it immediately went to the  land on the other side of the sea.
The question now is, “What am I to learn from the storms of life?”  The next question I could have is, “Why do some go through very difficult times and others do not?”  We must leave that to our Sovereign God, but we need to learn from the storms.
