I have always had questions why these so called religious people brought this woman to Jesus. Didn't they know the law of Moses that both the man and the woman were to be stoned together in certain conditions.  After all supposedly she was caught in the very act.  There had to be a man involved.
When these religious men confronted Jesus He just stooped down as if to be writing on the sand as if He didn't care.  Some preacher sought to determine what He wrote.  I don't know anything about that and I don't really care.
Jesus then looked up and said, "Whoever is without sin let him first throw a stone." Can't you see them all picking up stones?
Then Jesus asks the woman, "Where are your accusers? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one Lord." Jesus said, "Neither do I so go and sin no more." Years ago there was a politician who sinned a very bad sin and he used the verse "let him that is without sin cast the first stone."  That was the wrong way to use this phrase.
