Keep Unity In The Body! – Acts 15:13-29
The devil sought to bring disunity to the early church from without and within. This passage gives principles necessary for unity.
1. Authority – James makes final decision and others submit
2. Liberty – No Christian should put requirements of their own making on another Christian
3. Responsibility – Every Christian has a responsibility to seek not to offend and strive for unity
4. Charity – Every Christian should be willing to yield rights of liberty for the sake of others
Liberty in Christ does not trump submitting to authority and living in responsibility and charity toward others. Enjoy the liberty that is mine in Christ but do not use it as license for selfishness and disunity.
