Luke 10:1-12

I wonder what it must have been like to be appointed by Jesus Christ.  These seventy were to go before Him into the cities where He would eventually go.  Really, they were to introduce Him as the One who would eventually come to them.  We do something similar when we introduce Jesus as the One who is coming again.  In verse 2, Jesus speaks about the greatness of the harvest.  In John 4:34, Jesus states that the fields are white with harvest.  This means that it is crucial that the grain be harvested now, before it falls to the ground and is impossible to reap.  I believe this is happening in the U.S. now simply for lack of laborers who are willing to work and reap the harvest. Jesus speaks of the seventy disciples (not referring to the twelve) as going forth as lambs before fierce wolves.

Who is the Son of Peace mentioned that is to be in the house?  It is Jesus Hemself.  He is called the Prince of Peace in Isaiah 9:6.  By the preaching of the seventy sent ones, they are to accept Jesus as Son of Peace.  This is to be the same for us today.  They were told to shake off the dust of their feet against any city that refused to receive Him.  Jesus said it would be more tolerable for Sodom than that city.  Sodom only had Lot and he was not a good witness for God. Now what kind of a witness for Christ am I?  What about you?  The whole world seems to know something about Jesus today.  It is easier to talk about someone who is as well known as Jesus.  Or do you find it easy?  You may not even talk about Him at all.
