Practice Church Discipline! – 1 Corinthians 5:1-13
Paul explains the importance of practicing church discipline. Immorality was being practiced and was having a number of bad consequences.
1. Restoration – The goal of Church discipline was to bring those involved back into fellowship with the Lord and other believers.
2. Restriction – If not dealt with the practice would spread.
3. Response – Free others in the church to respond in mercy and love.
4. Report – To have a testimony of holiness with the lost.
5. Regard – To glorify God.
Church discipline is necessary and beneficial to the Church. It must be carried out in meekness and humility and with patient carefulness so that God can take what satan meant for evil and turn it for good.
