We must remember this is a vision given to John. So we have one sitting on the throne, probably representing God the Father.  The scroll the tithe deed to this world.  John is wondering is there no one who has the right to open the scroll. He is so concerned that he weeps.  But one of the elders said, “Do not weep for the Lion of the tribe of Judah.” He has another characteristic.  He is called the Root of David.  He has prevailed to open this seven sealed scroll. But now what does John see?  A Lamb as it has been slain. I recently wrote an article titled the Lamb of God. This slain Lamb picture goes all the way to the end of the Bible meaning eternity future.  In the last chapter Jesus calls Himself the Root and offspring of David which means more than the Son of David.  (Matthew 22:42-48)  There is no doubt who this is.  It is our Lord Jesus Christ.
