Unity Through Authority! – Romans 13:1-14
Chapter twelve of Romans deals with unity through diversity – the use of spiritual gits. Chapter thirteen is about unity through authority – responding in proper submission.
1. Source of Authority – All authority comes from God – ordained (purposed).
2. Service of Authority – All authority are ministers for God – two primary functions: praise good, punish evil.
3. Submission to Authority – Submission means supporting goals and obeying guidelines. Submission is the proper balance of obedience and appeal. Submit to avoid punishment and to amplify testimony.
Do I accept authority in my life as the minister of God? Am I supportive of the goals of my authority? Do I obey the instructions of authority? Have I learned how to make a proper appeal?
Walk with the Lord and submit to His authorities!!!
